Half of a half apology from Epic Failure Miley

Soooo... Miley decided she should apologize again for her slanty eyed business! And I thought, finally?! Then I read the apology and IT WASN'T AN APOLOGY.

"I want to thank all of my fans for their support not only this week, but always! I really wanted to stress how sorry I am if the photo of me with my friends offended anyone. I have learned a valuable lesson from this and know that sometimes my actions can be unintentionally hurtful. I know everything is a part of GOD’s ultimate plan, and mistakes happen so that eventually I will become the woman he aspires me to be."

Let's be honest, she doesn't care. I made the IF to show that she doesn't care about her Asian/Asian American fans. She's rich, famous, has celebrity privileges and does whatever she wants. So let's do something about this, shall we?

Many Asian American blogs have pushed back against Miley's half assed apology and have called her out on her BS apology. The OCA, Organization of Chinese Americans, is literally the only Asian American advocacy group that's called Miley out on her racist self. Where are the others at?

The Minority Militant has mentioned the lack of Asian American (AsAm) groups on the front lines with OCA and well, it's a good point. Are there reasons for other AsAm advocacy groups to not even bother with Miley? Maybe the other advocacy organizations have other priorities? Maybe they're intimidated? Maybe it's a waste of time for them? Maybe they think addressing Miley won't solve anything? Whatever the reasons may be, I think it's up to the empowered people, the general public, to speak up. PLEASE talk to your respective AsAm advocacy groups about this Miley fiasco. Tell them you want them to say, "Enough is enough, stop the slanty eye business."

And if you want to take it further, you can head to The Minority Militant's blog and read up on how Miley's going to the White House to show her movie. Ick. Or you can mail Disney and tell them their star is an epic failure. OR! You can do both.

According to the suit, each APIA person in L.A. County is entitled to the minimum damages for a civil rights violation -- $4,000.

Ahahaha, I love comedy sketches with politics. Now if SNL could get Barney Frank into the sketch, it'd be hilarious x 10.

JACL NY/SC CONDEMNS MILEY CYRUS' RACIAL GESTURE

The Japanese American Citizens League's National Youth/Student Council (JACL NY/SC), the youth body of the largest Asian Pacific American civil and human rights organization in the nation, is greatly dismayed with the photograph of Miley Cyrus and friends slanting and narrowing their eyes in an effort to mock Asian Pacific Americans.

The JACL NY/SC is well-versed in the racial mockery displayed by Ms. Cyrus. As Asian Pacific American youth and students, we recall the instances of childhood ignorance where classmates would pull back their eyes in jest. The pain the gesture evokes is powerful. This gesture is a harsh and constant reminder that Asian Pacific Americans are treated differently and not accepted as equals. It is a bold statement that uses Asian Pacific Americans' immutable characteristics, characteristics we cannot alter, as a way to isolate and alienate us. As members of Ms. Cyrus' generation, we condemn this behavior as insensitive and inappropriate.

Ms. Cyrus' fan base is extensive and encompasses members of our organization. Many of us consider Ms. Cyrus as a role model who has now offended a portion of her fans. It is difficult to simply dismiss this as a prank when it is a source of anguish for so many Asian Pacific Americans. We hope that Ms. Cyrus recognizes the error of her conduct and offers an appropriate apology to deter future similar behavior.

Magic We Can Believe In?

I don't know how to explain this video so I'll just post the link and you can decide for yourself. I found it off of Jossip's website and well, it's a video of Japanese magicians, dressed as Michelle and Barack Obama, doing magic tricks with a Mikan Orange...? Confused? Yeah, I thought so.

Happy Friday the 13th!

Hello readers! Thanks for dropping by the blog on Friday the 13th!

A little trivia here. If you know of anyone who's afraid of the number 13, they might be triskaidekaphobic! While I don't know any triskaidekaphobics, I'm sure there are some out there, seeing that there's a term for them.

Happy Friday everyone! New postings to follow.

Pete Rouse - Obama's Man

I've been wanting to blog about this man for a while. I was reading the Asian Law Caucus' blog entry on working with Obama in fighting injustices. Then I read Japanese American Peter Rouse is White House Senior Adviser. Whoa! He's Japanese American! A fellow Asian American that has helped Obama PWN the White House?!?! That is totally badass. Want more info on him? I know you do!!

Does Sean make your blood boil? Are you overcome with anger by the sheer thought of him? Do you find yourself shouting at the TV wishing your verbal lashing could be heard?

Don't miss Rod on Fox tonight Wednesday at 9pm Eastern time with Hannity and Colmes.

See my top 25 for Rod's accomplishments. He was a great governor.

Miley Continues to be an Epic Failure

Soooo... Miley made an "apology" to the Asian/Asian American community. But then, she had to kill the apology by saying,

Ive also been told there are some people upset about some pictures taken of me with friends making goofy faces! Well, Im sorry if those people looked at those pics and took them wrong and out of context!

In NO way was I making fun of any ethnicity! I was simply making a goofy face. When did that become newsworthy? It seems someone is trying to make something out of nothing to me. If that would of been anyone else, it would of been overlooked! I definitely feel like the press is trying to make me out as the new 'BAD GIRL'

...But, when I have made mistakes in the past, I feel like Ive owned up to them and apologized.... Anyway, I really wish everyone would stop focusing on my personal life and get back to focusing on what I love! Music and Acting!

WELL! She said "sorry IF!" Well, I'm sorry IF your music, acting, and face just happens to be offensive to me too! A goofy face is a goofy face! Goofy face means an Asian face! How fun! We were just playing around![end sarcasm]

Bluntly speaking, you don't give a half assed apology. Also, don't piss off your Asian/Asian American audiences. I don't know if Miley knows, but hmm, there's a lot of us back in the motherlands (aka Japan, China, S/N Korea, India, Laos, Vietnam, i.e. all Asian areas of the world) and you don't wanna offend, got it? I believe DISGRASIAN said it best, "You were giving us the chink-eye, an internationally-recognized symbol of unwelcome."

OCA, Organization of Chinese Americans, stepped up their work and said, “The picture is offensive and now this statement is inadequate,” George Wu, Executive Director of the OCA, an Asian-American equality group said on Friday. “That’s not enough. It’s not a real apology. We’re not backing down without a fuller apology."

She needs some schooling, stat. She had a chance to apologize and she messed it up.

Ching Chong Chinaman Play?!?!

OK! So when I first read the headline on this, I went, "HUUUUUUUUUUUUUH?!" At first thought, I was going to kick someone's ass. After reading the article, I feel a little better. Just a little. I wonder if the play will fulfill the writer's goal and not piss off people at the same time. Few excerpts after the jump.

“Ching Chong Chinaman”, written by Lauren Yee, directed by Jennifer Weir, was a finalist for the 2008 Princess Grace Award and winner of Kumu Kahua Theatre’s 2007 Pacific Rim Prize. It features Kurt Kwan, Maria Kelly, Sherwin Resurreccion, Katie Bradley, Eric Sharp, and Erika Danielle Crane.

“Ching Chong Chinaman was supposed to be the play about white people,” said Yee. “I had written so many ‘Asian American’ plays – plays about Asian American issues, plays requiring Asian American actors – and part of me simply wanted to show that as a writer, I could tackle anything with any set of characters and themes.”

“[They think] the phrases ‘ching chong’ and ‘chinaman’ are acceptable because they themselves are Asian American, yet at the same time, this act of attempting to ‘own’ these racist phrases demonstrates their gross lack of understanding of their own culture.”

Asian American Doctors Gone Wrong on Medicare

This popped up in my inbox today and WHOAAAA, this is really bad. The article states:

The arrest of a Korean-American doctor may lead to a crack down on Medicare fraud, rampant in immigrant communities, reports the Korea Daily. According to the newspaper, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office this week announced the arrest of John S. Han, 61, and his wife Sonya Han, 55. Han, a pain medicine specialist who operates Pain Medical Center in Norwalk, allegedly billed Medicare for more than $10 million in services between 2001 and 2005, but failed to report millions in income, reports the Korea Daily.

How the heck does one get away with this for charging over $10 million dollars on this?!?! I hope they get the justice they deserve. No one is excluded in manipulating the system. The health care system in the U.S. is ALREADY messed up and greedy folks like these only make the system even more broken. Epic fail.
